...who did a painting about Salmacis, featuring the goddess and the child at the pool, that weird incident described in the Genesis song.

I saw a picture of this painting in an art book at my schools art class years ago, and I haven't found it since. I think it was pre-20th centrury work, as it looked quite classical. Any suggestions?

The French had some pretty good classical painters in the 17th century!

Rembrandt is one of my faves. I'm not very keen of modern art...
