Solo only?

Harper

I slightly prefer Tull to Roy, cependant.

Harper's solo albums over Anderson's.
Like Barbu mentioned, I'd pick JT over Roy as well.
Welcome to the middle of the film.

Stormcock is OK but nothing amazing for me

I really like Walk Into Light and Divinities
Ian's next few are also good.
Just don't like the last couple very much.

I'll vote Ian
Prog On!

Both are artistically prolific, independent, bloody minded and (though I hate the word I cant summon up a better one) Maverick in their musical output. Both have named checked and shown respect for each other (though I think Anderson once referred to Harper as a 'bloody lunatic' or something very similar) but in many ways they are complete polar opposites Character wise..

Enough waffle.

Roy Harper for me every time

I haven't see Roy for a while now but was shocked by how Anderson's voice has deteriorated.  Overall - just about give the nod to Harper

Harper was a big influence on Anderson...Harper is a great admirer of Anderson.

Both grew up in Blackpool.

Harper's solo career is extensive. Anderson's solo career consists of about six studio albums....one of which is a masterpiece IMHO i.e. 12 Dances with God (he doesn't sing...which helps) the other 5 range from good (TAAB2) to awful (Rupi's Dance) IMHO.

So Roy.

Both have a core catalogue of great albums. IA's lost his voice sad to say. TAAB2 was painful.

But IA must be considered in the context of Tull as Harper is primarily a solo artist.

If I had to choose between a Harper album and Anderson's (Divinities is great and I count that as a classical album) then probably Roy.

Between Roy and Tull, well probably Roy, but Tull are superb of course (at their height and with due respect to the eternal nature of the recorded work).

Close, but Roy, have a cigar.
