I've noticed there are several Quasar bands.   2 from UK and both Neo-Prog

Just acquired the Quasar - Forgotten Dreams album.   I cannot find any info on this band.  This album only appears to be Cassette format...

Any ideas please,  if they released Forgotten Dreams on CD?.......  However despite the quality,  this album is rather good and worth checking out...  This is a Neo/Prog band...Smile

No it was just a Demo Tape. Most was rerecorded for the album "The Loreli"  anyway.

Is this the same band Quasar - Loreli then,  which is on this PA site?

Having looked again on the PA site,  certain tracks are the same..  But no mention on the Forgotten Dreams tape...  Also Quasar use a female singer,  not male that's used on the demo.  Smile

Yes, when I searched (I use google) the band and album name I got results.

The demo hasn't been added to progarchives, but it is mentioned in a review. http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=141566

This is the second and last album from Quasar, however THE LORELI should be the third release from the band if we take into account the cassette-only release "Forgotten Dreams" from 1988. THE LORELI shows some huge improvements from the debut album FIRE IN THE SKY on terms of composition, after all, in more than 6 years band leader and songwriter Keith Turner had gained more experience and maturity, his compositions here are more focused and interesting like the song Power in your Hands and the title track. The production suffers from the same problems of the first album, however one must note the work of guitarist Toshi Tsuchiya: all the keyboard sounds come from his MIDI guitar and, aside the very dated 80's porduction, he did a great job.
Among the band members on this record are vocalist Tracy Hitchings and drummer Dave Wagstaffe who both would later show up in LANDMARQ along with guitarist Uwe D'Rose and keyboardist Steve Leigh, both of them by the way, ex-Quasar members who left before the recording of THE LORELI.

Here is some info from discogs:

https://www.discogs.com/Quasar-Forgotten-Dreams/release/6235217

Tracklist
1     Seeing Stars II (The Dark Star)
2     The Laurelii
3     Men Of War
4     Logic?
5     Forgotten Dreams

Credits
Bass Guitar, Twelve-String Guitar – Keith Turner (2)
Drums – Dave Wagstaffe
Guitar – Kevin Fitzgerald (5)
Keyboards – Steve Leigh
Vocals – Nick Williams

Notes
Pre-Production cassette of unreleased album.
Recorded at Sound Ceremony Studios, Clerkenwell, London.

Edit: I know you mention female vocals, but there were line-up changes. If you look at Quasar's debut album, Fire in the Sky, the line-up is:

- David Cairns / drums
- Cyrus Khajavi / guitar, guitar synthesizer
- Dillon Tonkin / organ, synthesizers
- Keith Turner / bass, bass pedals, acoustic & electric guitars
- Paul Vigrass / lead vocals

QUASAR was formed in 1979 by founder Keith Turner and he's a constant.

No problem.

In case this topic has piqued anyone's curiosity, "QUASAR play the title track from the unreleased 1987 album 'Forgotten Dreams'".

This is just an early version of a track that was renamed into "As You Fall Asleep..." on the album
"The Loreli".

Then perhaps it will be of interest to some people who enjoy The Loreli.

Incidentally, I like CDs which include earlier and alternate versions as bonus tracks such as Dün's Eros
