The jazz rockers have departed but it still had Wetton and Jobson. You either love or hate Danger Money, so have at it.

I remember seeing them perform Caesar's palace blues on the old grey whistle test and being very impressed by Eddie Jobson's fuzzed out electric violin so I bought the lp but went off it for a long time though in recent years ive re-visited it and really enjoy it in small doses.

Bought it (with night after night) 4 or 5 years ago, listened once and don't remember a single note of it.
Ordered the debut (never heard) last week so I'm planning to spin these 3 quite a lot in the weeks to come...will probably revisit my Bruford albums at the same time. |

^ Aha, now the Bruford lps (particularly One of a Kind) are a different beast altogether!

I really like it, wouldn't say I "love" it (same as the 1st album). I did see UK open for Tull on the Stormwatch tour at the Oakland Arena and they put on a great show. I mentioned in another recent thread I got into Crimson in '77 and my dream was to always see Fripp/Wetton/Bruford together. That never happened, but I did get to see Fripp on his Frippertronics tour at Tower Records in 1979, Bruford at Guitar Showcase giving a Simmons drum seminar in the late 80's and Wetton with UK in '79

Great album with some weaker spots, still better than the debut.

I fell in love with Rendezvous 6:02 at first hearing. It was a single here in the Netherlands and it reached #24 in the Dutch top 40. Soon after I purchased the album, which has been in my top 10 ever since. Favourite tracks: The Only Thing She Needs and Carrying No Cross.

^ the drum track on CNC is the greatest percussive performance I've ever heard on a studio album.

LOVE it. Always have. The title track is immense. "The Only Thing She Needs" is sublime. The album-closing epic "Carrying No Cross" is spectacular. I really don't get the disdain so many have for this record. In my book, it's essential and one of the best power symph trio albums ever made.

Carrying no Cross is indeed a fantastic track. The obvious comparison to another power trio of note was suggested in an interview and answered by 'ELP are no longer around … but we are''

I don't love or hate it. I do like it very much though, even if it isn't the same without Holdsworth. In fact, this was my introduction to the group, and I liked it enough to seek out the debut.

I'll correct that: one of the best albums of '79. That being said, there were some really good prog albums in '79.

Both albums are great but which you prefer is down to taste. They are 2 very different animals. The great shame for me is that Eddie Jobson has done so little down the years. One of the greatest prog musicians easily.

After a dozen listens: both excellent and very solid but I do enjoy Danger Money just a little bit more.
I paired them along with the first two National Health today...just awesome, man. |
