From 1977, one of best debut albums by anyone, imho. Some like the follow up Of Queues and Cures better but the debut is it for me.

While I enjoy Gaskin's voice and contribution there's a bit too much of it on this album for my taste.
A great listen indeed and a must-have but the almighty Queues and Cures is the one afaic. |

I totally agree with you. I also prefer the debut to "Of Queues and Cures".

*If I counted Canterbury bands not from Canterbury I'd include Cos, Moving Gelatine Plates and Picchio Dal Pozzo debuts too.

Amanda Parsons, not Barbara Gaskin.

On the debut album it is actually Amanda Parsons, Barbara Gaskin and Ann Rosenthal known as "The Northettes" who sing.

Their debut was exquisite. I don't think I have Of Queues and Cures.

Oh what a delightful album, so light and laid back and still so virtuous and inventive! Can I think of a better Canterbury album? Hardly...

Glad someone said it. I probably prefer Queues but we're splitting hairs here. Debut is absolute gold.

You're right, those kind of mistakes have not their place here. My deepest apologies to Barbara and I'll acccept my sentence with humility, good folks. ![]() |

Both are excellent but I prefer the debut; The later D.S. al Coda lp of music by and dedicated to Alan Gowen of Gilgamesh (who died in 1981) is also excellent. Edited by Cosmiclawnmower - November 01 2018 at 14:27 |
