One might find this thread rediciulus or dumb, and it might be.. but wait before you judge after listening to at least three of Pauls releases.

Both artists are goofy musicians that camuflage their level of ability with goofy personalities. Neither takes themselvs seriosly, yet are fiercly creative musicians, singers and songwriters. Two strong guitar players, both multi-instrumentalists.

Paul Gilbert is more than the run to the mill shredder, hes a really good and fun songwriter that have a plethora of tricks up hes sleeve , he is not relient of hes guitar to show hes grasp and understanding of song crafting, Devin is also a realy amazing musician with an amazing voice and guitar chops. Way harder sounding but both have ultra technical capable bands to match the frontmens abilities.

Three of Paul's releases?   I'd barely have patience for one (even though he was my teacher briefly).

Samples?

here are some songs by Paul Gilbert from hes solo carear

this album is purely instrumental, i love the humor in the song titles.

here hes sings and plays, he got a really nice singing voice, and very wide pallet of styles and expressions, hes not just metal, or shred, but also comedic show tunes, 90s collage rock, blues, and jazzy music, even som flirting with english pastoral and a dept ear for baroque melodies.

this is among the best songs ever imo
