I'm on the Mirage side of things but ever so slightly, as others wrote, a very hard pick.

The one with "Song Within a Song" on it.

Two albums from Camel's "Sacred Trilogy" (Mirage , Snow Goose, Moonmadnes )
I love them all but Mirage wins to me !!! |

Both have some great songs, Mirage has my favourite Camel track Lady Fantasy on it, but it also has the two opening songs that don't do much for me. Moonmadness is a more consistent album for me.

Yep the trilogy and Mirage being the best of the three. I would actually put The Snow Goose as the second best, but all three are really good. Lady Fantasy puts Mirage over the top though for sure.

I agree with you, Snow Goose in second , but , I think Moonmadness in a very close third !!! A fantastic sequence !!! |

Lunar Sea is Camel's best single track IMO, but as a whole album, Mirage is better than Moonmadness.

Lunar Sea really is an amazing track; definitely one of their best tracks. Chord Change is up there in terms of Camel tracks for me, too. I really, really love Super Twister from Mirage, as well. The production and the flute lead on that is just pure nostalgic 70's prog magic for me. Taste the analog, mere mortal!

Gonna go with Moonmadness this time around, "Lunar Sea" and a tad more consistency working in its favor.

Very close call as the voting confirms.
For me it's Moonmadness, it has 'Lunar Sea' and 'Chord Change' and it was the first of both which I had, so it brings earlier memories (I had The Snow Goose even earlier so that's my fav of the trio).

Mirage has been my first Camel album and I've listened to it for the first time when I was in a desertic area of Spain...but I love both

Lady fantasy gets boring after the first two minutes

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

It would be a hard choice to make, but if I had to hold on to just one Camel album, it would be Mirage.
