Hi, Bit of a long shot but... Someone lent me a video of a programme shown on TV in Britain not so long ago, about Glastonbury 1971. Anyway, I left it in the reach of my little sisters who somehow wiped the tape (they didn't even record something onto it, just over it). I asked my Genesis forum buddies but in vain. So my quest has led me here... Has anybody, by any tiny chance, got a copy that I could have, for blanks and postage and...chocolate covered raisins and Genesis boots? I'm getting desperate! Thanks |

happythe: Go to Google and type in "Glastonbury 1971" (in quotes). Then hit "Search." There are quite a few items, including what look like places to buy videotapes. Peace. |

Yes - it's superb! I got a copy very recently - and I'm tracking one on eBay. You can get a copy very cheaply if you don't mind not having all the inserts and packaging. Put it this way; it's £500 with all the bits and £50 without - but it's the same great music! |

Not at all bad, considering it's 1972 and these are all live tracks. There's a bit of noise from the equipment used (except where the power went during the Gong set!) and Revelations is not a major record label, so it's not the quality of, say, "Abbey Road", but it compares favourably with "Woodstock". It's the amazing "Glastonbury" quality of the music that really jumps out at you - almost tangible! I'd also recommend the two (1970s) "Greasy Truckers" albums, which feature some of the same bands, an AMAZING track from Camel, the best recording of "Spunk Rock" by MAN that I've ever heard, and some good wierdness from Henry Cow and the Global Village Trucking Co. There has recently been an addition to the "Greasy Truckers" catalogue which looks interesting if you like Hawkwind; http://www.geocities.com/uheep2/gtp2003.htm ...although having searched for more info on these albums, as I couldn't remember the name of the Camel track (which is not on ANY Camel LP), I found this about Hawkwind; http://www.pooterland.com/index2/news/thee_archivez/news_aug 2002/news_aug2002.html I had no idea that Dave had been doing this - I feel somehow sickened by it... (off-topic alert!) /edit: Greasy Truckers 1 Line-up Side 1: Man - Spunk Rock. Greasy Truckers 2 Line-up Side 1: Camel - God of Light revisited (parts one, two & three). Edited by Certif1ed |
