Hemispheres.
Better flow, better produced, sounds more 'mature' 2112 is classic, and I do enjoy it, but Hemispheres appeals more to me, and is possibly their best album, IMO. |

Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I don't love any of the epic Rush because it seems when the lyrics kick in they tend to get a little cheesy. ( The instrumental sections are great however) I like the stuff on the other side of Hemispheres, Permanent Waves & Moving Pictures better. That being said ,the opening section of 2112 through The Temples of Syrinx is as good as anything they ever did. After that it drags out a bit.

2112 because it was the first thing I heard from Rush and was blown away.

2112 is still a massive piece, I can revisit this month after month and still be captivated by what they did so early in their careers. It totally brings me back to my teen years hearing that song and following along with the story.
It has everything, metal, hard rock, ballad with sick guitar and drumming.

This is a really hard one for me. I can't really choose one over the other.

2112 easily for me. My favourite epic, and overall my favourite song from them.

Hemispheres, but this is a close call for me. As an album, Hemispheres is obviously the better one, but the epics are almost a tie.

Hemispheres easily for me. Unlike many (most?) Rush fans, 2112 never resonated with me very much. I rarely listen to it. I appreciate and respect what 2112 means in the history of the band, but I'd much prefer to listen to The Necromancer or Fountain of Lamneth.

No vote, love them both. Both are epic and awesome in their own way. Kind of like choosing which child is your favorite - it will never happen.

Two outstanding albums sides and either should win against just about anything else. Despite both being multi-movement album sides by the same group just a few years apart, each has its own distinct mood and sound. Hemispheres is definitely the more mature of the two and that's usually the way I lean, but the riffs on 2112 are just too damn good. Not my usual lean, but that's how it shakes out here.

I voted 2112 because this album was their big breakthrough and has a wonderful success story about it and was a great album. Little wonder at this point in time this poll is close because Hemispheres is also tops.

2112 of course, Cygnus is unimaginative and banal.
