From their FB page

Thanks for the continued interest in our band, The Future Kings of England. It warms the cockles of our collective hearts to think people still enjoy the music over the four albums we made. Our little experiments in sound were great fun, but by the end, the fun was starting to wane a little, and we started to believe we were beginning to repeat ourselves a bit. So we decided to rest it, possibly forever.
Having said that, we are proud of what we done. We can still listen to the albums and enjoy them for what they are. We hope you enjoy them too. If only we could recover the wav files to remix The Fate of Old Mother Orvis.....

Now would make an excellent time for a career spanning box set. ;)

figured something like this was going to happen as they seemed to make zero noise over a long period of time. Shame to read, but seems like its for the best for the band.

I remember some people over on the progressive ears website saying they were the best of the new crop of psychedelic bands. I don't really know about that but I do think their first album(which I have somewhere on cd)is quite good. I thought it sounded like a cross between Barrett era Floyd and post rock. Sad to hear they have disbanded.

makes you appreciate all the more groups like Radiohead that had that... special 'it' that even in highly talented and high quaity groups is still quite rare.  True creativity and not being stuck or rooted in one style or sound
