This poll should be retitled Best Ballad of All Time From a List of Foxprog's Favourites!. I can think of a lot more ballads that should be on there and ones that shouldn't, as they are not ballads.

I think a Door with No House would be even sadder.

I have a feeling my jokes are wasted on you. I heard a House with No Door for the first time today. It's a great song. I'll resist the temptation to say Van Der Graaf Generator's music has spanned six decades.

The European tourist sounding synth as a slide projector moves in a rhythmic fashion.
You look different. Oh that sounds different and pleasant! Jookke in a paaaaaarrrk. Oh why does the universe inflict misery? But I can't understand. Aww bringing it round to love. Weuh smilllllle. Brain cannot function. Your madness fits in neatly with own. Oh that is beautiful. We're... Uh! Ahh! Oh that's beautiful. And now he's just making noises... Oh! Uh! Oh universe how could I ever have doubted you could inflict only suffering? Lone voter of that song. |

Many great songs on this list, and quite hard to choose one over the other. However, I voted "Other" since my all time favorite is "Cadence and Cascade" from Wake of Poseidon.

Refugees. for quite a few years I ranked it my favourite song of all time. These days it's just one of them.

It's pert' near impossible to top Nights in White Satin, and I don't thing anything on this list does. Nevertheless, I threw my vote at Wait for Sleep as that is an absolute gem that deserves far more love than it gets.
Imagine has no place on this list.

I voted for Wish You Were Here but I could easily have gone for Comfortably Numb, Nights In White Satin or She's Leaving Home. Two of my favourites that are not on this list are by Transatlantic - Bridge Across Forever and We All Need Some Light.

Sea Song, just over Aspirations, Mad Man Moon and Formentera Lady. Note: If the quantity of those rancid ads on this page would be reduced to acceptable proportions, I would gladly appreciate this.

To be honest with you guys... around 2013-2014 Genesis and King Crimson used to be my top 2 favorite bands but over time, those two bands become the top 2 bands I can't even attempt to listen to again and as of now I still can't. Especially the Peter Gabirel era Genesis. The quote endquote "theatrical" vocals drive me nuts.
So I'm voting for Sea Song, which did stand the test of time for me. Also if I were to pick something not on this list... I'd pick either The Wanderer by Evership or Depois L'Automne (hope I spelled it right) by Harmonium. I must say however that if you asked me the same exact question tomorrow, I would pick different songs. Welp, there are definitely way too many great prog ballads out there it seems. |

It wouldn't be my choice for my very favourite ballad, but it's nice to see someone giving this little song some recognition. I do love it, and it's got some really beautiful vocals. |
