Tough call, but I gotta go Big Eye Beans.

Great track, I won't be surprised if it's the top pick from this one! Her Eyes Are a Blue Million Miles is my choice.

Hands down my favorite Beefheart record....not a bad song on it, but Beans kicks ass in so many ways.....and I honestly don't know why this isn't everyones' favorite Beef lp...
It's strange yet accessible at the same time. IMHO the ones that are touted like TMR and Decals simply aren't musical in the same way as Clear Spot and the Kid are...but that's just my opinion.

One of my real favourite Beefheart albums - nearly every song is amazing.  Not surprised 'Big eyed Beans' is winning, but it was never my favourite on the album, and I even think it feels slightly out of place for some reason.

There's a half dozen tracks that I considered, but this morning I'm giving my vote to 'Circumstances'. That track is absolutely volcanic - makes some classic Led Zep tracks seem timid.

I won't lie everything after TMR and LMDOB feels very, very tame. I come from a tech metal/avant background though so there IS a huge bias. All the stuff after those two sounds very jammy and "lite" by comparison lol.

When it comes to Beefheart, I don't go for the most "musical"; I want the cream of the crop, which TMR and LMDOB undoubtedly provide regarding the trademark Beefheart sound. By this logic, LMDOB would be his most refined moment. I don't think I can argue that.

I think Beefheart achieved the greatness of Trout & Lick in Doc & Ice Cream (there were also signs of it in Shiny Beast). Although Trout & Lick are my biggest favorites too, Doc & Ice Cream are really close. They have maybe little more "order" than those earlier masterpieces.

I agree! Those four records are "the most Beefheart" for me. Very solid.
