Thanks.  I might as well leave Harmonium in place now, seeing as it's currently #8 in the Top 10.

That's simply to prevent someone from voting for ten albums by their one favourite artist, which I would have done with Renaissance if that rule didn't apply. Wink

I just went back and checked that your six choices are all by different artists, and they are. Thumbs Up

YES - Tales from topographic ocean (I don't consider "relayer" as a symphonic prog album, even if it's my top one of all times)
ANGLAGARD - Hybris
MUSEO ROSENBACH - Zarathustra (RPI, but mostly symphonic prog)
WOBBLER - Afterglow
SOLARIS - Marsbeli Kronikak
IL BALETTO DI BRONZO - Ys  (RPI, but mostly symphonic prog)
R. WAKEMAN - Myths & legends of K. Arthur
PULSAR - Haloween
FRUPP - Future Legends
MINIMUM VITAL - Sarabande

CRESSIDA isn't Canterbury ?!?

Paul, are you hiding "the Yes album" under your bed or something? :D How can that be missing? Come to think of it Nursery Cryme seems to be missing too. Any other 1971 albums missing? :P

In the land of grey and pink and moving waves aren't on there but in the case of Caravan I suppose maybe them being canterbury and not symph has something to do with it.

Nursery Cryme & The Yes Album still have less than 30 points each, so they haven't even made it into the Top 30 so far, but don't forget, voters can only vote for one album by each individual artist in their Top 10. Look on the bright side though: Yes & Genesis currently have five out of six albums in the Top 6 between them. Wink

7: The Flower King by Roine Stolt

8: From Silence to Somewhere by Wobbler

9: Scheherazade and Other Stories by Renaissance

10: ? [Aka: Question Mark] by Neal Morse

Interesting looking back at this. No need to change the votes, but this is what my list would look like five months later:

1. Close to the Edge by Yes
2: Selling England By the Pound by Genesis
3: A Drop of Light by All Traps On Earth
4: Moonmadness by Camel
5: Leftoverture by Kansas
6: In the Region of Summer Stars (1984) by The Enid
7: From Silence to Somewhere by Wobbler
8: Emerson, Lake & Palmer by ELP
9: To Shatter All Accord by Discipline
10: The Flower King by Roine Stolt

If I had my way about genre classifications, though, I'd have to knock Roine Stolt off the bottom (sorry Roine, nothing personal) and put Big Big Train's English Electric: Full Power up at third.

A Drop of Light and English Electric are both very special to me. One is 'Symphonic' and one is not (imo) Smile

You're right; A Drop of Light has a lot of Zeuhl influence on it Wink.
Thumbs Up
Lol, I'm glad we're on the same page! I was ready for you to say BBT wasn't Symphonic LOL.
I use they/them pronouns (feel free to ask me about this!)

Check out my music on my bandcamp!

Yes, I know that. But IMO, it's a mistake to classify their music as  Symphonic Prog. Cressida has a big jazz touch and is closer to first Caravan (If I Could) than to Yes, Elp or Genesis. No ?
I love this band and think is very, very underrated.

I'm surprised you don't have Cressida listed in your Top 10 Symphonic Prog albums. Wink

Canterbury scene's closer to jazz than symphonic, I thought, otherwise I'd have put forward In the Land of Grey and Pink.
Is there a Canterbury scene version of this thread?

^ I was thinking of doing a Top 7 Canterbury Scene albums poll, but so far, I'm struggling to come up with a list of seven Canterbury Scene albums by seven different artists I actually like, but this is what I have up to now:-

1. Khan - Space Shanty (12 points)
2. Caravan - Cunning Stunts (8 points)
3. Steve Hillage - Fish Rising (6 points)
4. National Health - National Health (4 points)

I just need to find another three albums now to complete the list. Smile

Only one of my selections made it into the eventual Top 10, but at least a couple of my album choices made it into the final Top 20. Funnily enough, they were the albums in 8th, 9th & 10th place in my list. Smile

1. FANTASY - Paint a Picture (30 points)
2. CRESSIDA - Cressida (20 points)
3. ENGLAND - Garden Shed (15 points)
4. REFUGEE - Refugee (12 points)
5. BEGGARS' OPERA - Act One (10 points)
6. GRACIOUS - This is..... Gracious (6 points)
7. FRUUPP - Future Legends (5 points)
8. RENAISSANCE - Ashes Are Burning (4 points)
9. MOONMADNESS - Camel (3 points)
10. CHRIS SQUIRE - Fish Out of Water (2 points)
