Easter is great but I have an alternate version found on the compilation album Best Of Both Worlds that's has a longer intro and better chorus/outro than that found on Season's End. I don't know why they didn't use it as it is a match for The Great Escape.

I think "Ocean Cloud" is the best Hogarth-era Marillion song.
The passion of Rothery's guitar is unparalleled  and the song itself is incredible, reinventing itself when you think it's about to end but coming back to the main theme, and the water, when it finally does. Plus the (TRUE!) story it tells is so well done and so emotional.
If I could listen to just one Marillion song for the rest of my life, I wouldn't even have to think about it. It's "Ocean Cloud".
From this list, "Easter," "Seasons End," Berlin," "Great Escape" and "Afraid of Sunlight" are all great songs.
Vote for "Seasons End" -- the only song along with "Sympathy" (the original by Rare Bird) that actually made me cry for our planet.

Ocean Cloud will definitely be in the 2000s list. Smile One of my favorites as well.

Marillion is not one of my top bands, but I enjoy their music very much. "This Strange Engine" gets my vote, among these collection of beautiful songs.

The 100 Nights Suite (This Town / The Rake's Progress / 100 Nights) is the best thing they did in the Hogarth era. Goodbye to All That comes second. Other good ones: Holidays in Eden, Gazpacho and This Strange Engine a.o.

I've listened to This Strange Engine that many times in upteen dozen different live versions by the band and I can't go past it being the best thing Marillion ever did. The Great Escape comes closest to matching it.

Easter! Wonderful track.

They were all set to play it live in Gateshead a couple of years ago, with Rothery tuning up the acoustic on the side, and some idiot at the front of the stalls shouted out for Garden Party and dared H to play it (a challenge that he wasn't going to pass on....you know what he's like!) What followed was a fun, but steady version, and I left the concert rather let down (thankfully the rest of the concert was superb - as the RAH BluRay testifies)
