I have 3 lp's by these guys....hard to classify the music. they are all over the place ,eclectic I guess....though PA calls them heavy prog..that's not the case for the most part.

Maybe not as obscure as I think, but Kraan's prog funk classic Bandits in the Woods. Probably more people should hear it.

Had this one on my mind today. I love the solo section starting with the nice bassline … then lovely guitar. Surreal! 3 min mark

I don't know how obscure this song is but it is one of the most catchy prog songs of the modern era that I can think of.

Obscure in my book....I know of  no one who owns this other than me in my circle of prog fans...
Listed as symph but again I hear a lot of Canterbury here...

^I remember seeing Hands live at the Progday festival a long time ago (2006). I always thought they were more GG influenced. Good band but I don't remember hearing any Canterbury in their music (or at least not much anyway).

I was looking through the playlist for deep tracks on Sirius XM the other day and to my surpise I saw this listed. Iluvatar were a neo prog band active mostly in the 90s.

That one certainly has Canterbury influence,,,don't know about the later ones.
I hear more proggy jazz fusion Canterbury, and eclectic than symph rock....not sure why they are in that category.

Could be. Based on the small amount I've heard of them (on record) and seeing them live which were both a long time ago I remember more of a GG thing. I'd have to listen again at some point. I'm not saying you are wrong just that I remember it differently. The one US band who definitely had a Canterbury influence (at last early on) was the Muffins. You should check them out too.
