I also like the Eloy, Oldfield and The Enid albums a lot.

You'll be surprised to hear I pretty much agree with this, I'd replace Eloy with Hawkwind but otherwise good.

I'll vote for Hawkwind as Rush will get plenty of love.

My personal list would be

Eskaton - 4 Visions
Present - Triskaidekaphobie
Zamla Mammaz Manna - Familjesprickor
Art Zoyd - Generation Sans Futur
They were four of the lesser known bands I had to leave out of the poll because I didn't have room for them, seeing as I'd already used up all 25 available slots. Smile

Another vote for Rush who are currently leaving all of the other albums behind in the wake of their Permanent Waves. Smile

It's almost startling how one-sided the poll is. I'd expect PG3/Melt to be a far more popular pick. Going to go with Tangram myself; one of Tangerine Dream's gems in my book.

As shockingly surprising as it is, I voted for Duke.

Cheers! I'm sure I will! Smile

To keep it on-topic, I just noticed Asia Minor's 2nd record is also on the poll. Poor reading comprehension on my part failing to notice it. That's one of my all-time favorite albums!

Not a bad year at all. My favourite out of these is Melt but I don't usually think of that one as a prog album so I voted for Duke instead. Do They Hurt and Gradually Going Tornado are certainly up there as well, as are Aksak Maboul's Un Peu De L'Âme Des Bandits and Den Za Den's self-titled debut but they are not on the list, sadly.

I voted PG's Melt, but these are a lot of great albums!
I could have easily voted Kate, Rush, Duke, Yes...

I also have a soft spot for Gradually Going Tornado, which is not normally a favorite around these parts.

Quite a few good choices here. My vote went to ANT's PP&P II

I thought you might do, in just the same way as RushFan voted for Rush. Wink

After a long period of deliberation, I voted for The Enid in The End. Smile

FAR too many classics to narrow it down to one! The early 80s are going to be some tough polls for me.

Since nobody else will vote for Colours or Tangram, I could vote for either!

The Enid gets my vote. Drama could also have.

Can't find myself willing to vote as, sadly, none of my TOP SIX albums for the year 1980 are included in this poll.

(In case you are at all curious, that list reads as follows:

1. FLAIRCK Gevecht met de engel
2. SBB Memento Z Banalnym Tryptikiem
3. HAROLD BUDD & BRIAN ENO Ambient 2:  The Plateaux of Mirror
4. LARAAJI (Produced by Brian Eno) Ambient 3: Day of Radiance
5. ITOIZ Ezekiel
6. IVORY Sad Cypress

^ Sorry, there just wasn't room to include every prog album from 1980, but in all fairness, the artists you listed aren't exactly household names, with the exception of Brian Eno. Smile

Actually, SBB is kind of big for a non-UK band. Wink

I doubt if SBB are well-known outside the progosphere and I've no idea what the initials stand for.
