Moving Pictures just over Nude, with Worlds Apart as a worthy third.

I think Tinseltown Rebellion is the better Zappa pick from that year. It MAYBE would have netted the vote, but as with the other poll, too many I haven't heard to pick fairly, and too many I like anyway.

I changed my vote at the last moment and chose Camel over the Moody Blues.

You may have noticed I deliberately missed Steve Hackett's "Cured" album off this 1981 poll, mainly because I didn't think anyone would vote for it, given 24 other choices.

I felt someone had to stick up for Abacab. That person was me.

Man. I sat here wanting to click the button for KC, but just can't deny a record with YYZ, Red Barchetta, Tom Sawyer... It's just too amazing. The continuing progression of a great band.
Discipline is incredible, but due to Belew's voice (which I love) comes off as slightly derivative of a certain new wave band he had toured with prior. It does contain Frame By Frame, Matte Kudasai and Thela Hun Ginjeet however. I also enjoy Saga(perhaps their best effort), Zappa, ELO and Camel from this year. The Genesis and Styx records have some fantastic tunes on them, but aren't quite as consistent as others in their catalog.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

1981 ... my goodness how we were spoiled! I count 9 of my favorite albums here. Nine!!! I’d take any one of them over any album today. (Am I old?)
