That happened a long time ago now. I think they sacked it in 2005 or so. The Music Lab was only around for about a year. However, I remember they played jam band stuff too. I'm not really sure why they dropped it other than they thought there wasn't enough interest in  it. I don't think the dj who did it was the best person for the job anyway. These days your better off just listening to prog internet radio although you can't really listen to that in your car.

Yes, pretty much expected

2 x Pink Floyd
2 x Genesis
2 x ELP
2 x Yes
2 x Jethro Tull
2 x Kansas
2 x Moody Blues
2 x Rush
Plus King Krimson, Alan Parsons, Supertramp, Asia

The only one that's questionable IMO is Asia, not really "essential" Prog
(Though I like Asia)

By the way, not a big deal but you copied and pasted that list from the progressive ears website didn't you? Wink

Nope, from the notes section of my phone from when I was listening yesterday. But I posted it over there first yesterday. That’s me.

Oh ok. I was close (but not to the edge ;)).

Yeah, they DJs were definitely saying "top 30" around the time I made the thread, but I think they ended up changing their mind to keep the show shorter.

17 - Supertramp - Breakfast in America

Well I voted for the obvious ones and added Misplaced Childhood as my 'Other' option. The lack of IQ (or post 80's prog) doesn't bother me. If you frame the choice as 'essential' then it's fair not to include them even if I do love them personally.

I bought it when it was released and...honestly I' don't think it's a grower. It is what it is and if you have found it  boring you'll find it boring forever even if it has some good moments.

So you don't care for it much either then?
Of all the Pink Floyd related stuff, it's the one I spin the less. I can listen to it, I don't dislike it but effectively "boring" quite defines it. And consider that I love The Final Cut.
Curiosity killed a cat, Schroedinger only half.

Nope. No modern prog either. I think it's obvious to most of us that those who made this list don't have a very deep knowledge of the genre.

The poll specifically says classic prog albums. The station that is doing this is DeepTracks which plays non-mainstream “classic” rock tracks (it has its faults but it’s easily the best station on SiriusXM).

Edit: For some reason they took out the word “classic” on the webpage even though the ad for it on the station says “classic albums” all day long.

Well, they aren't typically considered prog. I don't think Led Zeppelin were listed either.
U made me 'raff out loud LOLLOL......Everyone here considers them prog. My point is that other than this site, nobody considers them prog, which is accurate.

I also used the "other" option.

I don't! LOL

Not enough Italian prog
Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)
