Hey everyone, sorry for the delay on this poll; I spent the past few days moving into my new apartment. I have not finished unpacking, but I'm mostly there. 1995 is a solid year for prog, especially with Death's Symbolic, The Flower Kings' Back in the World of Adventures, and Porcupine Tree's The Sky Moves Sideways.
I will be voting for the second of these options, because once again I feel that Back in the World of Adventures is one of The Flower Kings' two best releases (along with Banks of Eden), while Porcupine Tree has a handful of albums (namely In Absentia, Deadwing, and Fear of a Blank Planet) that are better.

The Bends is my favorite Radiohead album. Has aged well.
Echolyn is also killer. Edited by Grumpyprogfan - August 27 2020 at 18:00 |

It comes down, again, to the flip of a quarter:
Arena's Songs from the Lion's Cage, an impressive Marillion-flavored debut that got more spin time than any Maril album; Nuova Era's Il Passo del Soldato, a killer album that showed up when you thought RPI was treading water! Or maybe I'll listen to both again first...

From the list I'm going with The Sky Moves Sideways over Symbolic, but you left out a personal and perennial favorite of mine: STANLEY CLARKE (with Al DiMeola & Jean-Luc Ponty) Rites of Strings

For me it's more or less a toss up between Echolyn and Spock's Beard.

I haven't heard that Anekdoten in a long time. I have an autographed copy I am reluctant to play(I'm like that with all my autographed cds though). I remember it being very over the top and "in your face" though. Thrak I recently acquired and like it a lot for the most part. Radiohead I remember being decent enough. Let's see what else? The Marillion I remember being good but haven't heard that in forever. Believe it or not I never heard that PT album. I guess it's one to add to the list.

At least ten albums I enjoy from this list. Thrak, The Sky moves sideways, Il Passo Del Soldato, Tales From the Punchbowl, The Bends...
Anekdoten's Nucleus deserves more love, so +1.

Unfortunately, none of my favourites made the list.
Art Zoyd - Faust (see the year of release has been changed at PA to 1996, but even Art Zoyd's website confrirms that it was originally released in 1995). Höyry-Kone - Hyönteisiä Voi Rakastaa Happy Family - Happy Family and various others. I guess I'll go with Don Cab... P.S. For 1996, if you do one, I do hope you know Cardiacs' Sing to God. Exclude that and someone might be singing to God that He smite you. ;) Edited by Logan - August 27 2020 at 20:55 |

Some great albums here. The Bends is one of the greatest albums of all time, but I'm not sure how progressive it is, so I voted for my soft spot, which is the Flower Kings album.

Arena certainly , one of the bands that lead the 'resurgence' of prog in the 90's , even advertising the album on a UK national TV station!

Cool. Then this Dirty Boy definitely shall stay his Fiery Gun Hand, and no red fire will be coming out from His gills either. That said, I won't be Quiet as a Mouse, and will announce my vote for it as well should I be around when the poll is up. |
