1997! A very excellent year in prog, with some incredible gems from Discipline, Fates Warning, Radiohead, and Symphony X, along with excellent debuts from Pain of Salvation, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and Devin Townsend.

I'm gonna be honest, I was a little torn this year, as Discipline's Unfolded Like Staircase is undeniably more of a prog album, and it's one of my favorite symphonic prog albums since the 70s. However, Radiohead's OK Computer is an absolute masterpiece of an album, and I just have to vote for it.

This is a phantastic album but from 1994, 1997 had their second one, Fields and Waves, that is pretty good, too, but not quite at the same level.

Many good albums here, OK Computer, Godspeed, Robert Wyatt, Björk, After Crying... but Häxan is one of Art Zoyd's absolute highlights and I must vote for it.

Hmm hard choice for me between Discipline and IQ, though ideally I'd vote for Spocks Beard's Kindness of Strangers if it was on the list ;)
