Both two terrific artistic statements. A great example of where music is not a competition.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Equally brilliant, somewhat last classic "old-school prog" sounding albums by both bands with a lot of experimentation, spontaneity in them (GFTO and Permanent Waves have already kind of polished, more modern sound). Cannot decide..

Good! Relayer is winning this "thing".

both are overrated , both have a killer track. I went with Hemispheres because of the lack of Cha Cha Cha's

I say it about tales of topographic oceans and close to the edge Hemispheres is pretty strong to me. Caress of steel is good in bits but a bit on the hard rock side |

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

Not a fan of Rush, but I think I'd put Hemispheres on before Relayer, though I'd say Relayer is the musically superior album. Life's funny that way.

"Relayer" due to the best side-long track ever recorded.

Relayer. Close: I put The Gates as the #1 track of my Top Prog list, with Hemispheres at #3.
