This might have been done before. Anyway, I didn't see if it was.
Conception is more prog, While Kamelot is more popular. Both are in the archives here, in prog metal category. They shared the same singer: The charismatic and unique Roy Khan. (He is again active with Conception, which released a really impressive EP and again an impressive full-length album lately.) Kamelot is American, while Conception is Norwegian. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for me, despite having been a huge Kamelot fan for many years, I gradually lost my interest in them. I loved their sort of medievalesque fantasy world, but they shifted [progressed or advanced(?)], and traded ancient magic for futuristic technological vibes. My loss of interest is not directly related to the change of the vocalist. I think Tommy Karevik is an awesome singer and I loved their first album together (Silverthorn). But after that, my interest in them dramatically diminished, perhaps to the degree of vanishing. Although Conception is an older band, I met with them several years after I had discovered Kamelot. I think Tore Ostby is a fantastic guitar player and their discography is excellent. So, in spite of the fact that Kamelot used to be one of my favourite bands, I'll go with Conception. What about you? Edited by Shadowyzard - September 17 2020 at 19:24 |

well Conception has Roy Khan. oh, wait... Roy Khan is Conception's vocalist, they reunited a couple of years ago, did a new great album. As for Kamelot, I enjoy the albums with Roy, except Poetry... I voted Conception, by far.

sad to read that. What have you listened from these two bands to be so dismissive?

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
