I was really nervous about this one. Being a huge XTC fan, the absence of Dave Gregory was concerning. I was worried over nothing - it's fantastic!!!

Played it twice now. For me it'll be up there with black midi this year.

There are a few advance reviews of the new Neal Morse Band album (due out on 3 weeks) online and they're all very positive. I'm particularly looking forward to hearing their prog version of Bridge Over Troubled Water.

I think a lot of people will like the new NMB (Neal Morse Band.)

It's a double album but NOT a concept album. The first disc (Innocence) has the shorter songs and disc two (Danger) is comprised of two long epics. And they are both great.

my favorite prog album of 2021 (so far)is Needlepoint's. I doubt anything would top that. Now I sound pessimistic. LOL

Nice list Hugues, agree on a lot, will check out others. Those Thollot's good? I've kinda skipped passed them so far.

Have you ever seen a pre-release review from anything related to the Neal Morse/Mike Portnoy camp that hasn't been overly positive and borderline circlejerky though? Just for it to come out and be another Neal Morse album?

I've not really listened to much new prog, though I do really enjoy Steve Hackett's new classical guitar album.
Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)

After a few more listens, it's good but I definitely like Flamethrower better. I just connect more with the songs on that album than Meat Mallet

I love Spock's Beard with Morse but of all the stuff he's done since then I haven't really found much that really grabs me.

Needlepoint and Caligonaut so far, but I have not been exploring much so far this year. Mostly what I’ve stumbled over or found on the PA top list.

I tend to take a pretty expansive view of what comprises "prog." My tastes also lean more metallic than this forum as a whole, but here's my top 10 so far (listed alphabetically by artist):

-Æthĕrĭa Conscĭentĭa - Corrupted Pillars of Vanity
-black midi - Cavalcade
-Caligonaut - Magnified as Giants
-Frummyrkrið - Dauðans Myrkri
Genghis Tron - Dream Weapon
-Neptunian Maximalism - Solar Drone Ceremony
-Papangu - Holoceno
-Bobby Shock - Street Angels
-Stone Healer - Conquistador
-Suburban Savages - Demagogue Days
