Hi everybody, I know well Gabriel-era Genesis are one-of-a-kind, yet, if you had to name a group that somehow "sounds alike" or is "the least distant", what group would you mention?

The first one to come to my mind is Neuschwanstein - Battlement
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

The Watch Ghost, Citizen Cain Somewhere But Yesterday, Babylon s/t, Neuschwanstein Battlement, Ivory Sad Cypress, Marillion Script for a Jester's Tear, Clearlight, Anyone's Daughter Adonis … not IQ. (We are talking PG-era, right?)

A Trick Of The Tail era Genesis comes to mind.

The little-known band Fruupp from Northern Ireland, featuring a Gabriel-esque singer. Fruupp may have passed by virtually unnoticed in the 1970's, but they were destined to be  Future Legends in the 21st century. Smile

Classic Genesis I imagine, the prog days, with Peter and Phil. (1970-1977 at least, I could add ATTW3 and Duke Tongue)

After Genesis and the likes I was very happy to discover french band Ange - their second and third album in particular. Even more theatrical with an almost gothic (novel) atmosphere and a thick psuedo-symphonic wall of sound. What's not to like? For some Christian Décamps vocals takes a little getting used to. But I've always loved Jacques Brel expressive/melodramatic singing style.

Listening to Big Big Train, specially the English Electric albums, there were some very Genesis like moments. I wish they had done some Genesis covers album... or even better, that they had teamed up with Hackett for one of his Genesis revisited concerts (and live album). It's good to not see so much mention of Marillion... I never really saw such a similarity... except perhaps for the vocals.
