Oldfield
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

Aion of course

After Crying is creative, solid etc...but not something I'd choose to listen to. The rest of what I've heard here is really not my bag. Alternative rock, shoegaze, metal... was in a much better shape these years. Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas would be my actual 1990-favorite.

As I try to have an open mind I checked out what I was unfamiliar with, and based on first impressions:

1990: Arcansiel - Still Searching
1990: Arrakeen - Patchwork
1990: Asturias - Brilliant Streams
1990: Janus - Out of Time
1990: Kalaban - Don't Panic

...so not in love with this kind of pseudo prog

After Crying. One of the best prog bands of the 90s
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

That's a lot of 1-star ratings! You're clearly not a fan of Symphonic Prog then. Tongue

I love Genesis, Camel, Renaissance, Ange, Cressida... lots of RPI etc... as much as anyone. But to me the 1990 version of symphonic prog feels more like new age music on steroids. Progressive it ain't. They do their best I suppose, but it pales compared to the originals. And if your singing ruins any potential in the music, then just don't sing.

I'm quite the opposite. I love the bands of the post-1970's Neo Prog era, such as Galahad, Magenta, Marillion, Mostly Autumn, Pallas, Pendragon & Solstice, to name just a few, and as it happens, I'm listening to the wonderful sound of Arena right now. Thumbs Up

I have a feeling Queensryche may make an appearance in Drew's poll later for this same year. Wink

After having just about missed the number one spot a number of times, this time finally a vote for Dead Can Dance. (Gotta check out the After Crying album; I know some others of them and they're awesome.)

Derek Dick may be a small Fish is a very big prog pond, but at least he's a handy substitute when there's no Marillion in the poll. Big smile

Crikey! That must be a first. It's usually me who doesn't know any songs or albums in a new poll - like one of Logan's polls for instance.  Wink

Oldfield > Dead Can Dance

Amarok is one of my favorite Oldfield albums, totally bonkers and a wonderful FU to Richard Branson.

Hawkwind's Space Bandits is one of their best post-'70s albums.
