Simply because Tears for Fears are listed on Wikipedia's Timeline of Progressive Rock, which I've been using as a reference for this series of polls. Smile

Tears for Fears are listed as Art Pop on RateYourMusic, in just the same way as Kate Bush and Tori Amos are Art Pop, so from that perspective, maybe Tears for Fears could be considered for inclusion here at PA under Crossover Prog. Wink

Not so exactly. RYM states as general genres for TFF:
"Genres

which means, Art Pop has 4th priority. Wink

That sounds about right. I'd list Tears for Fears primarily as Pop/Rock too, but I've never heard of a sub-genre called "Big Music" before, although I suppose Big Music could apply if you've got something to Shout about...

Well, you could try to change this on Wikipedia. That's the idea of that site, isn't it? Have fun with that! Evil Smile

Actually, I've thought about writing to them about the general problem of putting bands on their timeline even they're not considered to be Prog in their articles about those bands.

I don't think this is the way to do it. I don't think there's anyone who would change that for you, in Wikipedia people have to do it themselves. Although probably raising this on the article's discussion/talk page would be a start (if you don't establish it there, chances are it won't survive the night, although this may well also happen if you give proper reasons first - I had set the devil smiley because changing Wikipedia isn't as easy as people think who have never tried to do it).

If they had made more albums like Sowing... and Raoul..., they could MAYBE qualify for prog related. Probably not crossover.

Anyway, Wikipedia looses a bit of its credibility in this case, and in fact, the same problem occurs on Wikipedia's "List of progressive rock artists".
