Takes that most people wouldn't agree with.
Some of mine:

Tales is the Best Yes Album
Shine On > Echoes
Time and a Word > The Yes Album
A Momentary Lapse of Reason is a great record
Think of Me with Kindness is the best song Gentle Giant ever did
Mike Oldfield's Incantations is a 10/10 Record
'It' is a great album closer

Granted, most of these aren't super hot, but I'm sure many of you have some! (I'm looking at you Paul with your lack of VDGG love!)

I've had the same 'hot takes' for years now....Mike Oldfields music is boring and trite, and
Peter Hammill cant carry a tune but then much of VDGG music is not that tuneful.

The rest of them I can manage without and I wouldn't buy Pawn Hearts even if it was in a charity shop bargain bin. Embarrassed

The Missing Piece by Gentle Giant is superb.

Mike Portnoy should not return to Dream Theater.

Allan Holdsworth's solo material is better than his work with other bands/artists.

Close to the Edge is not the best prog rock album.

Todd Rundgren is one of America's greatest composers.

Baker St. Muse is one of Jethro Tull best songs.
Steve Hackett's music is better than Genesis.
King Crimson is the ultimate progressive band.

He's not saying people don't like the song, just that he thinks it's one of their best.

I know, I just thought it was widely considered one of their best, didn't know that was a hot take

Triumvirat are the greatest prog rock band. The best thing about them is their unique sound.

The Missing Piece is a fantastic album by Gentle Giant.

No More Love is the best album by Wallenstein, better than what came before or after it by the band.

Beat me to the punch on Triumvirat...Jurgen Fritz's solo's are some of the best of the classic Prog rock era...

IMHO:

Tales is the second best Yes album, after Relayer. Both are 10/10.
Momentary Lapse of Reason is a good album, but not a great one.
Incantations is indeed 10/10.
'It' is a great closer but only if you pay attention to the lyrics of the whole story arc. Otherwise, it is merely a good closer. Although we all have our favorite songs on the album, you have to take it as a whole to understand what is going on.
Ying Yang
The world of sound is certainly capable of infinite variety and, were our sense developed, of infinite extensions. -- George Santayana, "The Sense of Beauty"

In the wake of poseidon is more interesting than the one before it.
Larks tongues is the best King Crimson album.
Yes lost their way after Jon Anderson left the band in 2004.
There never really was a prog resurgence (at least not a major one).

Another…

Ambrosia’s “Somewhere I Never Traveled” is a more diverse, progressive album than their first (which was a pretty great album) ...

Is ... is that a hot take? Fly from Here was ok but certainly no Drama 2. And despite trying them all a few times, I cannot bring to mind anything from any album after.

I'm not even sure what a Hot Take is, but one thing I do know is I much prefer Fly from Here over Drama. Thumbs Up
