That's certainly one of their best songs TLC. I would suggest one of their compilations is a good place to start. Try to get one with "Loneliness" on it, probably their most prog song (and in my opinion their best, it's almost symphonic ).

IMHO Captain is the only reason I bought they second live on CD, rest is average at best - but I'm disappointed that on putting the original 4 sides of vinyl onto CD, that the record company haven't thought to eliminate the fade at the end of Captain

I was on a big GFR binge a couple of years ago,and bought them fromthe first one,
to We are an American band.
Played them over and over for ages.I think E Pluribus Funk is the most solid cd all around. It's got Loneliness on there also.
Beware, they are not prog, but great southern ish rock.

As a railroad engineer and a railfan the band name was great (Grand Funk ~ Grand Trunk) but I know few about them since they weren't too much promoted here in Brazil.

I bought a compilation of theirs for I'm Your Captain. Listened to the whole cd a couple of times, but didn't care much for the other tracks. I'm sure they have a few other great songs though.

Actually their first three studio albums have many good tracks , then comes that very controversial live album: you either love it or hate it. It is so raw and badly recorded that you either think it is the greatest thing recorded (and classify this album with the Stooges and MC5's KOTJMF as your top 3 ) or you loathe it as being justy mindless noise. I am of the second category
The following albums are not as good as the first three studio Lps
Then comes the period where they added a KB player, Mark Frost (i think ) and scored hugely with the first two albums as a quatuor. Later albums made as Grand Funk are not good IMHO.
In a way they were so badly hated by the music press , that they have a similar destiny as Uriah Heep! Although nobody wrote that they would commit suicide if GFR would make it big
