SORRY THREEFATES BUT I JUST CANNOT GET OVER THAT ALBUM COVER(LOVE BEACH)

THEY JUST LOOK LIKE THEY SHOULD BE DOING SOUNDTRACKS FOR OLD JOHN TRAVOLTA MOVIES RATHER THAN ANYTHING FROM "TARKUS"

IT JUST LOOKS OUT OF SYNCH WITH THEIR EARLIER STUFF!!

STILL I SUPPOSE THEY WERE JUST.. "STAYIN ALIVE"

Its the worst album cover I've ever seen in my life!! (for a rock band)

A freind of mine - renowned for his legendary p!ss taking skills -  was looking through my CD collection a few years back and pulled out a Focus album. He was crying with laughter at that for over half an hour. Its a good job I'm not an ELP fanatic, and have things like that 'Love Beach' monstrosity lying around the house  I'd never live it down.

That said, thou shalt not be ashamed of my musical taste

Well personally I think this photo from the Love Beach shoot would of made a better cover... but not any less cheesy.... actually it would of been better with just a picture of Greg.... but who's obsessing..???

Saturday Night Fever. Prog style

Those medallions are classic, and someone should have given Greg some sunblock. Dont he know about the ageing effects of the sun..??

'The Three Gigolos' wouldn't have sounded as good.

Keith Emerson remeinds me of that scene in Spinal Tap where Derek gets stopped at Customs with the squash in his pants...

Good Lord....

Thanks for sharing those photos Three Fates. It
makes me wonder what other kind of memorabilia
you've got lying around.

I remember going through a record store sometime
in 1979, not knowing that ELP had anything new out.
And much to my surprise was "Love Beach".   I
especially got a big kick out of Palmer's quaffed
hairdo.

I felt embarrased even touching "Love Beach" and
yet I plunked down my money and brought it home.
The first side was extremely uneven. "Taste Of My
Love" is a fun song musically but with extremely silly
lyrics (was it meant to be funny or if Lake was going
through some kind of mid-life crisis?). "Canario"
sure sounded like everyone was having a good time
playing. All of side 2 is taken up with Memoires Of
An Officer And A Gentleman, which almost made up
for the rest of that album. That piece is a very lovely
composition, very "romantic" in a thematic, not
superficial, way.

Still though....those photos are absolutely classic!
Emerson stated in Keyboard Magazine some years
back that he ran a poll at an airport by showing
people the album cover and asking if they would
purchase it.   By the results of the poll, he hoped to
convince Atlantic how terrible the decision was to
market ELP as a "romantic" band. Sadly, no one at
Atlantiic seemed to care about Keith's polling
information and the rest is history.

Actually that was the point of "Taste of my Love"... after all they were doing an album for the record company they really didn't want to do, and all but Keith hated the Bahamas... so Pete Sinfield actually wrote the lyrics to that song.. altho I'm sure Greg got a real kick out of recording it.... Here Atlantic, take that!

Just one more guys....
