I searched the forums but didn't find anything about this.  Apparently the Who will be releasing their first studio album in 20 years, and Greg Lake will be playing bass!  This may be old news to many of you, but I just found out about it today!
Here's some info on good ol' wikipedia:

He still won't be able to replace the late-great John Entwistle!
Have they stated any where when exactly the album will be coming out?

Agreed, RIP
There's no definite date yet, but sometime in the summer of 2006.

YES!!

I can't wait to see what happens when you fuse Greg Lake with the remaining Who members... hopefully it will sound better than the last Deep Purple album.

As long as they don't do a remake of "Still you turn me on"  I think he'll do a splendid job on bass for them but I would never expect it to be on par with past masterpieces.

I heard the last Deep Purple was actually quite excellent.

ermmm...I go on the GregLake.com forum and nothing has been said about this.Greg played bass for The Who in a charity gig but there has never been any long term plan for him to join The Who.He now has his own band up and running and is fully committed to that. That said I wouldn't be surprised if he made a guest apppearance on their album for maybe one or two tracks.

The last Purple album 'Raptures of the Deep' sounds more than good to me the title  track,Raptures, Money Talks and The Wrong Man are all very good I'm still getting into the rest.

Despite my initial misgivings, the new DP album actually is superb. It's grown on me a lot and features some modern day DP future classics. 'Bananas' was equally strong, in my opinion.

As for The Who, as far as I'm concerned this will be like when Kenney Jones took over from Keith Moon- it just didn't really sound right. Jones was just too slick to fill in for the wonderfully chaotic Moon, and I think the same will be true of Greg Lake. However, it'll be great to have the first Who album since 1982 available, and I really do hope it will be their best since 'Who Are You'.
