I'm getting in to Jade Warrior again after a long hiatus.
I have their 1st album 'Jade Warrior' and 'Waves'.

All of their albums reviewed have mostly 3 to 4 stars.

Can someone help me pick what next two albums after the above may be their best?

may want to try the best of...
I would suggest Floating World or Way of the Sun as
the earlier stuff is a little disjointed.
the search for Jade Warriors best ends up with 2-3
albums not much better than 1 or 2 others and all fall
into a class of flashes of brilliance followed by
moments of boredom. Thats why I would
recommend a best of.....if their was one that ever
truely captures many of their best moments.

I

That's bro, I was beginning to think no-one had an opinion on them at all.
Not exactly mind boggling but very nice chill out music. Much appreciated.

I recommend you:

  1. "Floating World"
  2. "Last Autumn's Dream"
  3. "Released"
  4. "Eclipse" (never released album recorded in 1973)
  5. "Kites"

There's a good value 2 CD reissue of the four Island albums Floating World, Waves, Kites and Way Of The Sun. Almost entirely instrumental, occasionally lapsing into New Age noodling but mostly high quality prog with world music influences that was at least 10 years ahead of its time.

I have all of their albums, and have been a fan since the early 70's.

          S/T:  several good tracks.

Released:  some good tracks (marred by long jam).

Last Autumn's Dream:  several good tracks.

Floating World:  several good tracks   (all instrumental, no vocals like on first 3)

Waves:  pretty good (CD taken from vinyl or poor tape source, which makes it less enjoyable for me)

Kites:  several good tracks (perhaps the least commercial of the first seven).

Way of the Sun:  some good tracks, often "out of their element", though.

everything after that, including recent releases of unreleased mid-70's stuff:  pretty good.

I personally only have Jade Warrior, Released and Last Autumn's Dream. They are all fantastic albums, but my preferred album is Last Autumn's Dream.

Bit late on this discussion...  Their "Released" has slowly grown as one of the most inspirating prog album for me!
