My affliction now has a name! I have been an unknowing disciple of progrock for over 35 years, and didn't know my sickness had a name until fairly recently. I always felt my devotion to Yes, Gentle Giant, and Renaissance made me an outcast of society, as most (all) people around here have never heard of the bands I hold so dear. Early Genesis, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and the previously-mentioned three have been my passions since the very early '70's. I feared that music of that type had moved on without passing the torch of the genre on to a new generation, but in the last year or so, I have been delighted to discover Spock's Beard, Ozzric Tentacles, Porcupine Tree, The Flower Kings, and Dream Theater. With the discovery of this website and forum, I finally feel that in my oft-maligned tastes in music , I have found a group of kindred spirits that appreciate what I have felt all along- that music that requires actual THOUGHT to enjoy and appreciate is not a bad thing, after all. If it were, we would all be listening to Foreigner and watching  The Surreal Life, rather than seeking out others who share our "affliction". Keep the faith, and I welcome all responses! All hail to power and glory's way!

If music be the food of love,THEN PLAY ON.

Welcome aboard, you're in good company.

Welcome.  There's a lot of proggies in here.  There's no cure.  Thank God.
