So the bit in brackets makes you post pointless. There are very few points of comparison between Rush and Crimson.

Crimson have always been a hardcore Prog band and Rush havent.

Obviously I prefer Rush and I find KC's music too fussy and self-conciously clever.
Love the early albums-then ZZZZZZZZZ. However many might say exactly the same about Rush.

It's all a matter of taste as to who you prefer.
KC have always been the better PROG band though...Rush the better rock band and more consistent.

<<Yes...right!!! I can imagine Fripp playing Rush´s songs...hahaha, he would be so bored hahahah (with some great exceptions of course!!!)>>

Yeah, I remember my first beer, too. I wasn't anywhere near a computer, but I said some pretty funny things, too.

<<Crimson have always been a hardcore Prog band and Rush havent.>>

From what I've heard, KC have had gaps in being a prog band, too. To say they're "hardcore" is a bit of a stretch.

Really? I find that hard to believe, but I'll take your word for it. Or maybe not.

That makes perfect sense; that's actually how I feel about them. Although, I still do like a lot of King Crimson's material.

I think musicianship is a secondary affair here; the members of both groups are masters at their instruments, so I think it all boils down to how they affect you on a musical/emotional level. Rush just does a lot more for me.

<<I don't think that someone can really deny that.>>

It's all pretty subjective. Didn't somebody say at one time on this very site that Fripp doesn't even consider KC to be a prog band? If I've mixed up the quote, then I apologize; however, I thought that's what I heard.

I've just heard some stuff that doesn't necessarily sound proggy to me. Like I said, it's all subjective. Besides, the image of Jessica Simpson's shapely legs at the bottom of this page is gathering my attention right now.

KC is good, but they don't have half the skill and talent Rush have.

This was posted as I was writing mine, an I have to say ... What? They don't have the skill and talent? Let's look at a few of the names from the roster. Rober Fripp (given), Greg Lake, Bill Bruford, John Wetton, Peter Sinfeld, Tony Levin, Adrian Belew, etc. You really don't think that these guys match up to Lee, Lifeson, and Peart?

I still don't see your point, I think those artist you metioned are fantastic, but Geddy, Alex and Neal are still better than those you mentioned

Geddy lee blows circles around, Toni Levin and wetton, greg lake

Peart can drum any of these drummers tunes with one hand and at the same time play rush tunes.

ALex, is more acuurate and melodicand writes better tunes than fripp and belew

SInfield lyrics are mostly corny at times where peart speaks about life in general and makes you think

It would've been easier to compare Rush to Yes. I voted for King Crimson in this poll. My reply in the Yes vs. King Crimson poll would fit here aswell. Perhaps it would fit even better here.

I'd say Rush, King Crimson puts me to sleep usually. If you combined all the greatest artists in King Crimson then they'd probably be better (Lake, Belew, Bruford, Fripp) but Rush has had a perfect lineup for 32 years.
As a Rush fanboy they are my obvious choice.

1 on 1 polls are interesting: Rush slightly beat Genesis, KC barely beating Rush, J-Tull and Genesis were an almost tie (I think J-Tull had a slight edge), Yes beat Rush but not by a lot, I don't remember the results of the others.

Fripp didn't like the prog tag. I think he considered himself above all classification. A very modest man, I think..
