It depends what kind of experience you're after and/or what kind of music you're listening to to get that experience.

Not absolutely... I'm thinking about many amazing Camel songs where the guitar or the flute "sings" and many other prog instrumentals that sound perfectly complete as they are.

Just listen to Camel's ''The Snow Gooze'' and you will easily realize how vocals are absolutely necessary to make a progressive masterpiece.

NO. I love Vocals, but Instrumental bands are ridiculously good.

I agree 100%. However, the vocals have to be really good - otherwise you get the opposite effect. I love instrumental pieces quite a lot most of the time, and some are among my all-time favourites.
