So true about Steven's mouth .
I almost steer away from his interviews just so it doesn't kill my opiinion of what an outstanding musician he is. But alas it is hard not to notice the "porcupine tree are not prog" comments. I'm the biggest PT fan in the world, but Steve does have a pension for saying things that piss me off.
Anyway in answer to the poll I would take PT over the Ozrics anyday. |
I have to admit that since Mr. Wilson arrived on the site and had such a candid and lively discussion with us, I've since revised that opinion. In fact, I'd venture to say that I was the one running my mouth without the appropriate information. While it still _does_ bother me when people appear to distance themselves from prog (like it's a bad word), I also understand firsthand what it's like to have your music categorized in a way that you don't see eye-to-eye with.

Porcupine Tree evolved and tried different things, their vocal harmonies are great, etc...
Ozric Tentacles are great, but they keep on recording the same album over and over.
My vote goes for PT.
Peace !

The Ozric Tentacles mix more styles into their music then PT do. And although their sound has not evolved as much as PT imo their sound is just better to begin with. Porcupine Tree has some great psychedelic moments but the hard rock stuff is uninspired. Ozrics for me!

Sorry. No offense to Porcupine Tree fans but I just can't get into their music.

Porcupine Tree - they're simply much more diverse.

Im gonna go with PT also. I like OT alot but I can only listen to them in small doses. The hypnotic drum beat/house/trance/industrial/acid thing, whatever you want to call it grows old in a hurry.
