Check out this band, it is truly an original kind of progressive fusion!

PANZERBALLETT (Germany)

Zehrfeld‘s hard ‘n‘ heady compositions are an innovative fusion of jazz, funk, and metal.
Sophisticatedly interlocked funk grooves are combined with heavy riffs of complex polyrhythmic structure as well as jazz improvisation.

PANERBALLETT performed approximately 30 shows during the last two years, once as local support for „Tony MacAlpine / Billy Sheehan / Virgil Donati" during their European tour in 2006.

"What they have going is hard edged fusion featuring a quartet of guitar, sax, bass and drums. Guitarist Jan Zehrfeld plays with a tremendous amount of energy and fluidity but he is met head on by Gregor Burger's sax who goes toe to toe with him. Burger can play with an abrasive edge but also lets a stream of gorgeous notes flow out of his instrument. Bassist Flo Schmidt and drummer Max Bucher do in fact add a touch of funk which is a nice counterpoint to the harder edge the music takes at times. Word on the street is these guys really kick mucho ass live so perhaps we'll see them at a stateside festival at some point. Highly recommended. A real solid debut." lasercd.com , 2006

I will move this to Suggest Bands/Artists and add the band to the Prog Metal Team voting chart.
