Is APC Prog? I don't like Tool, but for the most part, I like APC. I think some of their stuff can be pretty progressive and a lot of it doesn't sound very radio-friendly. I dunno, maybe it's just good music, but to me, it seems more like Prog-related Alternative Metal than anything else.

No, but I think theyre a very good band.  A lot of people consider them a watered-down version of Tool, but I think that's only due to the presence of Maynard as lead singer.  They don't sound much alike apart from both being dark rock bands.  I wouldn't classify APC as really progressive at all, but they are definitely solid artistic alternative rock.

I don't think APC is really a progressive rock band, but they still remain an excellent band nonetheless (but I wish the band would come back together).  And they can't be compared to Tool, because APC sounds very different from Tool.  I guess APC could be considered prog-related though, but I'm not sure.

MJK realized that A Perfect Circle was a horrible idea maybe there would be an addiitional Tool album. 
 
It is a perfect cicle within the creative tapestry Keenan, Chancellor, Carey, and Jones tighly wove in the eraly 90s and continues to fray with each of Keenan's often unfounded side projects. 
 
Lets go back to Lateralus.

No offense meant, and I haven't heard the band in question, but I think almost any artist "could be considered prog-related."

I was actually listening to Them the other day, and although i'm a big ventilator of Them in general and Van Morrisson in particular, i still don';t think that they belong in prog-related (though Gloria is a great song)
 
Anyway concerning A perfect Circle. I thought they were alt. pop/rock, but I haven't heard it yet, so i'll leave it to you folks to figure it out.

Tony, you have to admit that the 'Other' item in the proggnosis list opens up some room for Peter's 'make believe' Wink. The PA def is more closed in that area.

As for Perfect Circle: I haven't heard them yet. Sorry...

Thirteenth Step is an album with some prog moments. Their debut doesn't say much and it's pretty straight forward compared to 13th Step, but still doesn't make them that much of a prog band although I wouldn't mind if they get added since I don't see them too far from the prog genre.

they have some proggish elements, especially on the 13th step album which is by far my favourite Maynard album. even if they are not prog enough to be included here this album is really awesome and it is worth giving a try. and no, they are not a watered down version of Tool. actually I find Tool a bit more repetitive (although I like them too).
