I haven't seen any commentary or discussion on the setlist of the new Genesis tour; they have already started tourisng, am I right? So what have they been playing "really" (not in our speculations....)? I have to make a quick decision about going to Rome on the 14/7, but this depends....

Also I am curious about PG's new summer tour, I want to go to Venice, but not for just another "Growing up" tour as I already served three times

Thanks for any informaiton or link that you might provide on these issues

Does anyone know how often Peter Gabriel tours the United States? I would love to see him!

As said Genesis starts their tour in Helsinki 11 June, I would've attend if it didn't cost me 30 Euros just to send me the tickets (And with the basic ticket price plus travel and accomodation it became too expensive for me)

I think Genesis official site has posted some rehersal videos where the setlist is revealed. Haven't seen them myself though, you have to be a member to watch them.

If you havenīt seen them, there are several videos of Genesis rehearsing old Gabriel-Era songs for their new upcoming 2007 tours. Here is an excerpt of  In The Cage for example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0B9gkl1ZrY. Just search for "genesis 2007".

What do you think about this videos (too bad the quality is awful... but we can still talk about themSmile):

1) "I love how they are playing the old songs, hearing the old material live once more is amazing, and Genesis is doing a great job in it. They havenīt lost their live power "

2) "I donīt like how they are playing those songs so much, but I think that is better to hear weak versions of the good stuff than a complete pop concert"

3) "The versions are slow and horrible, It looks like they are doing the simbolic funeral for the band they once were, showing how they canīt play the old stuff the way it has to be"

Iīll go for the option 2, the versions dont seem so bad to me, but I have a similar feeling after hearing ELP or Yes in the late nineties:  Do we needed this??

Trying to get passed the terrible audio quality, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt...they've played In the Cage many times post Gabriel, I don't foresee any reason why they couldn't pull it off anymore...

I'm interested to hear what they chose to play and what not to play during the rehearsal.  So far we seem to have this list:

Behind the Lines
Duke's End
Turn It On Again
No Son Of Mine
Land of Confusion
In The Cage
The Cinema Show
Duke's Travels
Afterglow
Hold on My Heart
Home by the Sea
Follow You Follow Me
Firth of Fifth
I Know What I Like
Mama
Ripples
Throwing It All Away
Domino
Drum Duet
Los Endos
Tonight Tonight Tonight
Invisible Touch
I Can't Dance
Carpet Crawlers

Which does not include Second Home by the Sea, but I'm assuming it was played.  This would make 25 songs if one were to include Drum Duet as as a song.  But, I doubt very much that some of these songs were played in their entirety.  So exactly, what did they choose to cut?

Cinema Show / Duke's Travels - I'm assuming these songs were part of the In The Cage medley, and were not played in their entirety.  Just how much was played?  Was the Slipperman solo, The Raven, included, or the solo from Riding the Scree?  How about In That Quiet Earth?

There is also a question as to whether Firth of Fifth was played in its entirety, or as part of a medley in between Follow You, Follow Me and I Know What I Like.  Just how much of this song was played?

Some users mentioned that Ripples was also shortened.  Did they remove some of instrumental in the middle of the song, or some of the repitition at the end?  I'm hoping it was the latter rather than the former, as the Ripples instrumental is my favorite piano part the band has ever recorded (very haunting and powerful).

Last of all is the encore.  Were these songs in medley form?  Or were they played in their entirety?  Was Tonightx3, the short single version, or the full album version?

I appreciate any info you can give me as it will help me to decide whether or not to buy tickets.

ATTENTION, CONTAINS SPOILERS

mmmmmhhhh....

not completely bad, but....

I am STILL confident that at the final Rome concert, Peter and Steve will show up, Collins will be sent back to the drums, and they'll play "The Return of the Giant Howgweed"

(a hint: Gabriel's Italian tour on halt from 8 to 20 July..... , Genesis playing Rome 14/7...)

(((we'll I have already bought the plane ticket and paid for the hotel anyway))) Shocked

I'm just glad they are still playing at least a few of the Gabriel era songs.

"The Cinema Show?" Huh. Guess they didn't have enough time for "Supper's Ready"...

The first two medleys look amazing, particularly the second one! Hopefully "The Cinema Show" and "Duke's Travels" are nearly their entire lengths, making for nearly a 12 minute instrumental break! That would be awesome!

Looks W&W and ATTWT only get one each (each album's last track) while SEBTP gets three! I kind of wish "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" and "Dance On A Volcano" were on there, but the other tracks from those albums are okay too, especially "Ripples"!

Thanks for posting this!

-Marc.
