As now all of the four albums of Secret Oyster have been re-issued by Laser's Edge, I thought it would be an opportunity to remember this great band and their albums, and (like in other polls I made recently) have comments, impressions, thoughts, anekdotes etc from members and fans.

See here the page at Laser's Edge of the 4 releases - http://www.lasercd.com/Search.aspx?Keyword=secret+oyster

Sea Son for me.  One of my favorite cds and definitely an underappreciated gem.

Avoid Astarte, IMHO >> sounds like some late night ballroom music

Sea Son was the first re-release of Laser's Edge and an excellent one (with bonus tracks) >> second best

Furtive Pearl is their debut with a different rhythm section (not as good IMHO, but the songwriting is fresher than the other albums. >>> My choice

Krakenhaus is also quite good but doesn't come up SS or FP.

All four albums are now available on Laser's Edge.

there are plans for two posthumous release: one would come close to Astarte (another order from some ballet origanization) and a live album, both only issued if sales deemed satifying by LE
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Funny, when I updated the release information on 3 of their albums only a few minutes ago I didn't even know there was a thread going on...
I've had their cds for too short time to choose a favourite, but on first impression I disagree with Sean on Astarte, it doesn't sound so bad to me. But I definitely need more listens.

I prefer mostly Sea Son. The second best IMO is Straight To The Krankenhaus. These two I chose to be "members" of my music-collection.

I wonder why they didn't go for a direct English translation of "Vidunderlige Kælling".

Wonderful bitch.Ha.

My pick STTK by just a touch over Season.

Astarte is a bit non-exciting.It just flows.Maybe I just need to really listen to a few more times.

Abashedly I will admit I no longer have my copy of their s/t. One of those albums I never quite found its groove, I certainly gave it a shot because of all the peoples views I respect liking them. After that first experience I'm afraid I have not ventured further into their works.
