Haven't seen much talk of these guys lately, but I'm hoping there are some listeners out there. Otherwise, you're missing out!

My personal favourite is the album that got me hooked, Ceux du Dehors. It's arguably not their best, but I'd recommend it to someone new before any of the others (I'm not sure why it's rated lower here; it's their #1 at rateyourmusic.com). Their first 5 albums are all amazing, though. Thumbs%20Up

"Heatwave" is my favourite. I know i'm in the minority with that pick but "The Funeral Plain" is perhaps their most amazing track. "Uzed" and "Heresie" round out my top 3.

I only have the first four albums and love each of them.  Of those I will go with Ceux du Dehors.  I won't vote since I don't know enough.  Must get Heatwave.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Heresie would be my top choice but the other first 3 releases are also up there and there isn't one release I don't like.

I must say I have Heresie and I find nothing awesome about it, it´s very monotunous, dark noise... but maybe Univers Zero is just not for me

Try Ceux Du Dehors. It's more lively and more song oriented. Still extremely complex though, but it is my favorite from them (of what I've heard).

Heresie... It's like a dark void.

I second this recommendation! I thought the same thing as you when I got Heresie first. I only began to appreciate it after I got Ceux du Dehors.

Dehors when I'm in the mood for some normal stuff, Heresie when I'm feeling dark.

Surprised no one has voted for Uzed; that's a great album too.

IMHO maybe the most important band available in Progarchives. Fortunately they give concerts again after quite big silence period. I think that after Andy Kirk's rejoining about one and a half years ago the band is on stage as good as twenty - thirty years ago. (have seen them three times in concert - in Würzburg 2004, in Brussels 2005 and 2006). In the last concert I saw they performed for example Dense, Presage and The Funeral Plain (my personal fave of their last live performance) and new Andy Kirk's composition Warrior as well!
So - very hard to vote because everyone of the first six albums is fantastic (I personally like all their albums).  My choice would be ... Ceux Du Dehors.

Uzed is the blue print for all future UZ that would be more electric (as opposed to their acoustic first three albums)

I voted for the debut, but mostly because it didn't have any votes yet. Five first are all so great I kind of like them equally.

I do love Art Zoyd much more, though. I think I've given their six first albums a fivestar each here.

"Heresie"!!! I think the best feature (not the only great one) of Univers Zero comes out when they explore the most sinister side of avantgarde music and turn it into a different, refurbished kind of beauty, as disturbing as it may seem. "Ceux du Dehors" comes as a close second since it also explores this top quality in UZ's music.

        Kind regards.

Yes, it's a great album. It was actually my introduction into the world of UZ, and now that I know a bit more about their art, I kind of believ that this album anticipates some things that UZ would do in ther current second phase. But... LOOK AT THE COMPETITORS!! It is only predictable that their albums no. 2 and 3 dominate this poll. UZ is a band so consistent in their musical greatness that the losing album can never be defined as diminished or failed.

       Kind regards.
