Topic: maudlin of the Well vs. Kayo Dot Posted: December 01 2007 at 07:31 |
sorry if it was done before I choose Maudlinz over Kayoz. Just adore "Leaving your Body Map" and like "Bath". I can endure both KD's albums, but I won't call my state normal during this procedure

Kayo Dot for me.
The transition from the avant metal of maudlin of the Well to the post-avant-whatever-you-want-to-call-it of Kayo Dot is a huge step. Kayo Dot's music sounds more "artistic" to my ears than maudlin of the Well (and this will sound snobby) so I prefer them for that.
Still, maudlin of the Well was a great band and one of my favorites from the avant metal genre.

I think I have to go with MotW, though it's tough.
Leaving Your Body Map is just insane.

I prefer Maudlin. They're a little more engaging and way more experimental.

maudlin of the Well are OK. but I think the 2006 Kayo Dot album is the best thing they've achieved so far. I love the way it basically hangs apart and downplays the guitars; it's very brave.

I'm going to have to say Maudlin of the Well for the simple fact that I dont find Dowsing Anamone to be as strong as the other albums produced by these two bands. However, this could change after I hear the new album next march.

I'm gonna say Kayo Dot, Maudlin is good, but the album I have, Bath, is a little uneven. Choirs of the eye is perfectly weird!

Although I have little material from both bands, I like Maudlin a bit more!

Maudlin for me. Kayo just isn't for me.

First off, I don't enough of Maudlin of the Well's material to vote, but based on what I know, I much prefer Kayo Dot. Unlike Kayo Dot, I wasn't that impressed with Maudlin of the Well.

Absolute love for both, but if I had to choose, it would be Kayo Dot.

^ if I HAD to i would have to pick Kayo Dotvery difficult but, like ian said, Choirs is so good. (i wish i could
edit my review and change it from 4 to 5 stars) i think Dowsing Anemone
was a bit of a shock, not really what i was expecting at all, and so
it's taken a while for it to grow on me but i still feel that although
its a progression from Choirs of the Eye, it is hit or miss with me.
still, very good. Maudlin is so different that its hard to compare the
two. I would pick maudlin over kayo dot if Choirs of the Eye was even a
half step below what it is now - Bath/Leaving your body Map are both
masterpieces. Id almost rather not vote.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?!
This was a LOOOONG time ago my friends! Both of these bands are in my top five, Bath is indeed a masterpiece, with LYBM and My fruit phsychobell not far behind. Choirs of the eye has opened my mind som much towards avant garde music it's not even funny.
So, forget my vote, cause theres no way I'm choosing between these two bands!
