Greetings from an isolated rural area of Ireland!

Having a look around this site one question comes to mind: "What have I got  myself  into?" Wink

Some seriously nerdy stuff going on in here - but in a good way!  I suppose my route to prog began via a combination of interest in art rock (Bowie, Roxy Music, Talking heads etc) and the fringes of metal/thrash metal.  For any music fan, the ubiquity of some bands makes their influence unavoidable anyway - e.g. Floyd, Zeppelin - which may inevitably lead to prog too. Also, Killing Joke (who I have always been into) could arguably be described as prog punk maybe?!

Voivod though (circa Dimension Hatross & Nothingface) were the band that really started my interest and prompted me to investigate King Crimson & a few others. Not so much into (what I would see as) the more indulgent muso stuff generally and prefer keyboards to kept to a minimum.

My intention is to find more stuff that sounds like Red era King Crimson - and to continue to inject  my own compositions with a healthy dash of prog.

Great site!!!

You have no idea. LOL

Seriously though, it's refreshing to see someone looking at things from a slightly different angle. Welcome! Thumbs%20Up

As for stuff that sounds like Red-era Crimson... You could try early Anekdoten (Vemod, perhaps?) - given that you can tolerate the keyboards.

Thanks guys!

No doubt I'll be boring/irritating you all in due course with naive prog questions - so bear with me!  Embarrassed
