How come I've never heard of this magnificent band? I think it sounds excellent!
Anybody that knows this group? Have the memebers done other things?

Here are a few examples:

They only made one album (1975) as far as I know. In italian, the same album later also with english lyrics.
What do you think?

I like this album a lot (there's so much great prog from Italy and many are one album wonders). Many here have high regard of this album and band.
Have you heard any other bands? Semiramis comes to mind, if you still haven't done so, it's a recommended album.

Great band! I much prefer the Italian version (as usual).  I usually look at Maxophone as part of the second "mini-wave" of Italian bands from the mid to late seventies that were highly melodic and uplifting; others for example, Locanda delle Fate, Cherry Five, Celeste, Murple, Il Volo, Corte dei Miracoli...

Thanks, I'll check out the other bands you mentioned. Hopefully it's possible to purchase on the net.
If this is the second mini-wave of italian prog, I guess I know the first one best (which probably is PFM, Banco, Le Orme etc.)

Maxophone was a pleasant surprise. These musicians must surely have done more than this one album ...?

Recently the original members of the band joined again for some concerts and released an interesting CD - DVD...

Thank you for creating a thread dedicated to them, it`s a pity that they released only one album, as several Italian bands did, but this is another gem, actually one of my favorite Italian albums all time, beautiful music and of course the Italian version is the one i like the most.

Magnificent group of musicians.
Their only album has become one of my all time favorites. It is Definitive Prog Thumbs%20Up

Get the DVD, "From Cocoon to Butterfly"..You won't regret it if you appreciate great progressive music.

Re : Semiramis ... I find the vocalist off-putting. Alphataurus comes to mind as somewhat similar.
