I happened today to discover there's a jazz rock / fusion band from Japan called "Ain Soph". This is the hebrew phrase for "Infinity" (direct translation - no end). I am quite sure that this isn't coincidense. Does anyone knows how come that a Japanese band choose a hebrew name ?

Thankyou.

Maybe for the same reason that an Italian industrial group chose the name? (There is no explanation in that link; I was being rhetorical.)

Alot of Western musicians are influenced by religions that are foreign to their own. Perhaps the Japanese wanted to explore something beyond the Asiatic religions. The Kabbalah is being studied the world over by many people.

Thanks Pilzkopf. the idea that it comes from Kabala sounds possible.
