Indeed. This one makes me whenever I hear it though...

I've always pictured this song as kind of an homage for all the assassinated peoples of the world... ... ... indeed...

Sarcasm has no place on PA I guess.....that must be a new rule (the thread did say funny lyrics- and in a way- those lyrics are funny- as they are not be be taken seriously at all..or how stupid they are)

Yes, they are not meant to be taken seriously...

As for sarcasm...I think it has it's place here, but I think sarcasm is harder to detect through text than through expression in real voice and whatnot...which can cause confusion, as well as many unneeded arguements on forums ...

I just thought the sarcasm would be easily detected, seeing as how I post on PA website and not something like- Death Metal forums/Life Sucks website- and kinda how my last fm signature implies that I listen to more "decent " musicEmbarrassed

I was sure it was some kind of joke, but I didn't detect sarcasm. I simply thought it was a joke in bad taste. although I should perhaps not complain; the lyrics to "Dem Guten, Schönen, Wahren" by Amon Düül 2 are quite similar in taste

Has anybody mentioned "Wer Schmetterlinge lachen hört" by Novalis (the band)? Those lyrics were so good that still today some people keep thinking that they were adapted from a poem by Novalis (the poet)

"Wer  Schmetterlinge lachen hört / Der weiß wie Wolken schmecken / Der kann in Mondschein ungestört / von Furcht die Nacht entdecken"
(I try and translate - BaldJean, forgive my mistakes Embarrassed: The one who hears butterflies laughing / knows how clouds smell / in the moonlight, undisturbed by fear, he can discover the night)

That's the weirdest thing. Today, I discovered the band, and I JUST gave that album a listen.
And earlier today I got this Jan Dukes de Grey album and saw a review for it as soon as I got it.
Today is a wee-urd day for me.

slight mistake in the lyrics; it is "der wird im Mondschein ungestört", but else ok Smile. so it is not "can" but "will" in the translation

Neil:

I don't have faith in faith
I don't believe in belief
You can call me faithless
I still cling to hope
And I believe in love
And that's faith enough for me

yeah, I was waiting for someone to post Cannibal Corpse or something, certain other nameless bands (that would get me banned) that write pointlessly offensive lyrics
