Others include the explosive jazz rock combo Colosseum2 (again Don Airey involved along with Jon Hiseman and Gary Moore) and UK was a definite supergroup that made a couple of great albums. The first line up of Par Lindh Project was also a supergroup made up of some of the finest prog musicians in Sweden.Their album Gothic Impressions was excellent. I also like Liquid Tension Experiment.

A CORRECTION: Tony Carey played keyboards on "Stargazer" (studio version, "Rainbow Rising") and David Stone, on "Gates of Babylon" (studio version, "Long Live Rock'n'Roll). Are you talking about live versions? I would love to hear, never found any, with the exception of a live "Stargazer" at Castle Donnington 1980 Festival album. BTW, I love Colosseum 2 and UK too. Congratulations!

IMO a supergroup is defined as a group of musicians that normally play in other bands of high reputation and get together to form the supergroup as a project (but they don't abandon their regular bands for it).

  • OSI
  • LTE
  • Niacin
  • Jelly Jam
  • Transatlantic
  • The Tangent

Transatlantic are a joke, i downloaded a live album, listened to it and binned it, utter drivel. King Crimson in a later form can't really be construed a super group, after all they changed personal more times than women change their knickers. The original supergroup are/were ELP. But to throw a wee name in the hat, how about Stomu Yamashta's Go. Winwood, Schulze, Al Dimeola, Michael Shreeve.

Um?  Anyone here want to mention Ayreon or Star One?

How about we just take a look at who has been in Ayreon, shall we?

Edward Reekers (Kayak), Lenny Wolf (Kingdom Come), Robert Soeterbroek, Jan-Chris De Koeijer, Ian Parry (Vengeance), Barry Hay (Golden Earring), Jan van Feggelen, Leon Goewie, Ruud Houweling, Lucie Hillen, Mirjam van Doorn, Debby Schreuder, Robert Soeterbeek, Okkie Huysden, Cleem Determeijer, Rene Merkelenbach, Fish, Damien Wilson (Threshold), Sharon Den Adel, Anneke van Giersbergen, Edwin Balogh, Johan Edlund (Tiamat), Floor Jansen (After Forever) , Lana Lane, Mouse (Tuesday Child), Jacqueline Govaert (Krezip), Neal Morse (Spock's Beard, Transatlantic),  Mark McCrite (Rocket Scientists), Russel Allen (Symphony X, Star One), Ralf Scheepers (ex-Gamma Ray, Primal Fear), Andi Deris (Helloween), Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), Fabio Leone (Rhapsody), Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius), Ian Parry (Vengeance, Elegy), Devon Graves (Pychotic Waltz, Deadsoul Tribe), Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad, The Devin Townsend Band), Eric Clayton (Saviour Machine), Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth, Bloodbath), Magnus Ekwall (The Quill), Heather Findlay (Mostly Autumn), Irene Jansen (Karma, Star One), James LaBrie (Dream Theater, Mullmuzzler), Marcela Bovio (Elfonia) and Mike Baker (Shadow Gallery).

Yeah, and that is just the vocalist list.

The good cop and the bad cop left for the day. I'm a different kind of cop.

Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers was in it, and Ikey Owens played with Cedric and Omar in thier electronic band De Facto, so the only real unknown is John Theadore, and since I gues Juan Alderate plays bass on Frances, he's the only other.
Life seemed to him merely like a gallery of how to be.

Just a little!   A supergroup is a group comprised of musicians who had already found fame in other groups.  In the example of ELP, Keith Emerson came from the Nice, Greg Lake from King Crimson, and Carl Palmer from Atomic Rooster.  And so, often times they are quite popular, since they have to potential to draw in fans from all the members' previous outfits!

Liquid Tension Experiment. Downloaded one track from forum and was quite impressed. Worth exploring further?
