Jean Luc Ponty....one of the first musician to play an electric violin..this album is amazing!!!!

If you like electric violin check out Jerry Goodman (the violinist who preceded Jean-Luc Ponty) in the Mahavishnu Orchestra.  Also checkout Michal Urbaniak.

I like the album. I prefer Enigmatic Ocean, but Cosmic Messenger is great too.

All of Ponty's albums around that period are top notch.  If you want to try something really interesting (if it's still available), Jazz Violin Summit with Stephane Grappelli.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
