A new album for David Torn is always welcomed, this one made up of three 22min+ tracks. Also new albums from Hammond organ wizz Joey DeFrancesco and guitarist Dominic Miller. Interesting metal prog album too, from multi-national band O.R.k. The second hour with largely long tracks, includes Wendy Carlos, Magma, Motorpsycho and Man. Plus lots from the archives.

Another three hours interesting music, new releases and that found in the archives. New jazz releases from Kokoroko, Branford Marsalis, Marilyn Mazur and Gary Burton. New rock albums from Tim Bowness, Amanda Palmer. Electronica from Light Conductor, Wume and Hector Zazou. Reissues from Fish-period Marillion and the Legendary Pink Dots. And something sent me by Gary Lucas.

New albums from Snarky Puppy and Shabaka Hutchins (playing saxes with The Comet Is Coming), are most welcome. More from the soundtrack of Joni Mitchell's 75th Birthday Concert (remember selected cinemas are show a film of the concert on the 28th March). Superior guitar playing from Alex Machacek (in FAT), Nguyen Le, Scott Henderson and the late Michael Hedges. Equal superior bass guitar playing from Jonas hellborg and Kraan's Helmutt Hatler.  And of course lots of neglected but most interesting music from the archives.

The last show before the university's Easter Vacation break for 3-4 weeks. New jazz from London in the forms of The Comet Is Coming and Kokoroko and three pieces by Norwegian bands. Couldn't let the untimely news of Scott walker's death pass, so tracks from his early and later periods. This is the last 3 hour show and by personal choice I'm dropping back to two hour shows in May and beyond - also remember the UK time zone becomes BST through the summer months. You might also like to check out the Music Zone on the internet, who have invited me to present a two hour show once month.... the first one was broadcast last Saturday and will be available to stream soon, (devoted to Scandinavian bands and artists.... btw I will not be duplicating shows for the two stations).

Back again after the university's Easter vac. The show is reverting back to a 2 hour format starting at 9pm BST this Thursday. This show consists of new releases and a couple of reissues (CSNY's 4 Way Street, Wishbone Ash's first album). Thanks to Thomas for getting the Isildurs Bane And Peter Hammill album to me, the wonderfully arranged 'In Amazonia'. Interesting nu.jazz from Typical Sisters and Trio Heinz Herbert. Great jazz rock from the Brazilian band Stratus Luna, average age 17, being promoted by Moonjune records. Great album too,  out from Bruce Hornsby.

Tomorrow night's show has an international flavour ro its jazz section, The Sleva from Portugal, Shalosh from Israel, Fire! Orchestra Norway. There is plenty of varied music coming from Scandinavia: Jimmy Agren, the aforementioned Fire! Orchestra , Oyvind Torvund, Trojka. Prog from Big Big Train, King Crimson, Kenner and Van Der Graaf Generator. More from that remarkably cheap box set, Jack Bruce Live at Rockplast.

Greatly enjoying the latest from Elephant9, in fact the band have released two album at the same time: check them out. Interesting blue collar rock from Australia's Jimmy Barnes. Another excellent mixed genre compilation, pulled together by Jon Savage (author of 'England's Dreaming'): 1968 - The Year The World Burned. Discovered a second Nucleus band from the early 70's. An excellent Anglo-folk album from Topic Records to celebrate their 80th Anniversary. Contact me here is you would like to download the last two show recordings. Also check the Album Zone site for other ALT2 Shows that streamed.

As term finishes this is the penultimate show of the season - next week will be a review of what I've enjoyed most since the start of season. Pleased to have a copy of the forthcoming album by Mark Wingfield & Gary Husband, suggested elsewhere to sound like Terje Rypdal meets Keith Jarrett. Reissues from ARS and Ian Dury. Unusual fusion of harp and harmonica. Fun from Neil Hannon's Divine Comedy. Blues from Keb Mo and Rory Gallagher. Something from the archives by Elton John. More from Israeli keyboard wiz Eitan Kenner. And not to be missed, Richard Thompson plays Gilbert & Sullivan.

This is the last ALT2 Show of the season. If you find some of the tunes familiar then it is because I'm concentrating on some of the best music I've played in the last year. Lots of excellent nu jazz, especially Danny McCaslin's Blow! Also, the shock of Marcin Patrzalek's guitar playing, the unease of Laibach, the freshness of the progressive music from Hammill and Isildurs Banes. This is a good collection, enjoy.

Hopefully we will be back in October. However, in the meanwhile you'll find me too at the Album Zone with a monthly show; two shows (March and April 2019 broadcasts) are currently streamable and more to come.

Hopefully you'll find this another interesting mix of musics. Indo-rock from Agam for a start, is a fusion of prog rock with Indian music. Then an alternative Indo fusion comes from Hussain Holland & Potter. And then check out the mix of Korean and (heavy?) rock from Black String. Several Scandinavian bands, including Mange Andersson fronting the band Andersson South, with a single that is getting air time on Swedish radio. Delved back in the archives for Soma and Half Man Half Biscuit (for Chris Rand). Less impressed by the album Art Of McCartney, with too many of the musicians involved being too faithful to original Paul McCartney songs.. but the Who's Roger Daltrey gives you a belter. And more from Bent Knee.....

Some great new jazz releases sampled tonight from Nguyen Le, GoGo Penguin, The Comet Is Coming and EST. Are Battles back to the form we first heard on 'Tonto'? Plagiarism  Corner, with the original version of 'Dazed & Confused'. And the usual exploration of modern international popular musics. Join me tonight at 9pm GMT.... btw our clocks went back an hour last weekend.

Three albums recently released with the tag '50th Anniversary Edition' on the show from the Doors, Rolling Stones and King Crimson. Discovered a David Sancious album. One of the very best Anglo folk albums I've heard in a long time from Bird In The Belly. Like the new Hawkwind with the 78 year old Dave Brock at his best. Thanks to Herd of Instinct for sending me their new album. And so on...... enjoy (and I apologise for the heavy head cold and a more nasal version of me doing the announcements).
