Which song is your favorite Tool opener, each song is so epic and heavy. That something Tool does so great, they know to start a album a just right. Pick your fave!

My least fave is Vicarious dont really like that one. The Grudge or Stinkfist - I'll pick Stinky.

All are great openers, but I definitively cherish The Grudge the most.

"The Grudge". The first time you hear Lateralus, it's just building, and building from the beginning. Then Maynard's vocals come in, dark and uneasy, unlike any Tool song you've heard before. Then suddenly "BAM! BAM! BAM!" All the instruments explode. "The Grudge" for sure.

The Grudge. I'd even go as far as saying it's their very best song.

Stinkfist for me.But I can´t almost remember most of Tool stuff

Well, since you included Salival, I have to vote for Third Eye live, which is soooooo much better than the studio version. I'd say the next best would be Intolerance or Stinkfist.

Well, The Grudge is probably my favorite Tool song, but as an opener I think the riffing from Vicarious might be better... still, the Grudge is a better song! So there goes my vote

The Grudge just cause it kicks so much ass. I love all the rest though, Stinkfist is so catchy and climactic, while vicarious is so angsty, and sing-a-longable.

"Stinkfist". It's packs a major punch when you start listening to the album. That live version of Third Eye is really good too.

I have to go with the majority. The Grudge is a large part of what makes Lateralus the experience that it is

I think the reasonwhy so many are voting for The Grudge is because it is on Lateralus.

The Grudge is a very powerful opener, with it's stunning bassline and Maynard's striking vocals. I like Vicarious a bit more though. It's more a straight forward song (though it has some very interesting parts), but I really think it's one of Tool's best pieces.

I vote The Grudge because it's one of Tool's strongest and most effective tracks, and definetely their best album opener.
