Sorry, I completely forgot Piper (which I fully intend to review one of these days ...), since I was thinking of albums that are included in the PP section of our database - and of course its marvellous follow-up, A Saucerful of Secrets .

It depends on where you think Progressive Rock starts. I am inclined to say that parts of Abbey Road is Progressive Rock or the Beatles were they really Progressive pop? IMO they are not like anyone else in that regard.
The Zombies- Odessey and Oracle 1968
The Pretty Things- S.F. Sorrow 1968
Frank Zappa- Absolutely Free 1967

Yes it is I still listen it to it quite frequently. Jorma Kaukonen's guitar solo is mesmerizing. There is great live version of it on the remastered release from 2004. Eskimo Blue Day is very proggy as well. Different time sigs and a real jazz feel to the music. Grace Slick was a very underrated song writer. She also played a bit of piano as well.
